Climate change

Climate change, primarily caused by human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels. If immediate action is not taken, experts predict a temperature increase of up to 4.8°C by the end of the century, threatening the environment, politics, economy, and society.

Climate change refers to long-term changes in temperatures and climate patterns.
These changes can be natural, due to variations in solar activity or large volcanic
eruptions. But since the 19th century, human activities have been the main driver of
climate change, mainly due to the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and gas.
Climate change is the modification of temperature and other climate variables, which is
occurring at an unprecedented speed and intensity in human history, as a
consequence of human activity. It is happening worldwide, and its consequences can
be devastating, both for the environment and for people. Human activity, specifically
and mainly the burning of fossil fuels that generate greenhouse gases, is the cause
behind this serious environmental threat, the greatest humanity faces.
The main emissions of greenhouse gases that cause climate change are carbon
dioxide and methane. These come from using gasoline to drive a car or coal to heat a
building, for example. Land and forest clearing can also release carbon dioxide.
Agriculture and activities related to oil and gas are significant sources of methane
emissions. Energy, industry, transportation, buildings, agriculture, and land use are
among the main emitters.
But today we are also seeing how the impacts of climate change are manifesting with
greater intensity: -Extreme weather events such as storms and hurricanes. -More
intense, prolonged, and frequent heatwaves than ever before. -Mega-fires. -Droughts.
These impacts in turn cause economic and social damage, which will become
increasingly severe, such as crop damage and risks to health.
In the worst likely scenarios reflected by experts, the temperature increase could reach
4.8°C by the end of the century. Climate change is a global problem that reaches an
environmental, political, economic, and social perspective in which the worst forecasts
also imply enormous economic losses. The longer we delay action, the higher the
investments for adaptation to temperature increase will be, and there may be a limit
where adaptation is no longer possible.
The issue is important to me because everything depends on how the planet is;
everything develops here. If the planet is not well, neither is everything else because
the scenario is not good. Additionally, we have a responsibility to take care of the
animal's home.
-My classmates should also have an opinion on the issue because it concerns them
too.
